Lord Saladin wrote:The military does a very specific job - whatever the current in-power government tells them to. Some people are unable to differentiate between the military and the government, and so express anger at the military when actually they are angry at the government for making certain decisions and giving certain orders.
Two things, it was under the military that Abu Gharib happened.
Second thing, total cop-out using Liberal as an excuse. In fact it's down right insulting you use this steroetype, my Grandad was somewhat of a Marxist and Pacifist, but he joined the Navy in WW2, because he knew Hitler wouldn't stop. So quit with that idea, it's not political persausion that puts you into the army, it's whether you think the war is justified.
The irony here is you actually complained about people judging you, ha!
As for why do people hate the Military in China it's probably because of Tienanmen Square, that's just an example. True it's often Government to blame, but if you find an order morally offensive to ya ideals, then refuse to support it. The Iraq war hardly helped things neither did advent of Journalists going into war zones since many try show both sides to the conflict. Nothing is ever black and white.
As for my outburst, I hate your assumption about type of people who hate war. I'm a pacifist yes, but if there was ever someone like Hitler again, I'd join up.
We help the multi-nationalswhen they cry out protect us.
The locals scream and shout a bit,
but we don?t let that affect us.
We?re here to lend a helping hand
in case they don?t elect us.
How dare they buy our products
yet still they don?t respect us.
