PARIS (AP) ? Fourth-seeded Andy Murray advanced to the third round of the French Open despite playing with an injured back.
Murray called for treatment on his back twice during the first set and again before the start of the second, but still managed to beat Jarkko Nieminen 1-6, 6-4, 6-1, 6-2 Thursday.
Murray, who reached the semifinals at Roland Garros last year, had his serve broken three times in the opening set, and then again to open the second. But he then started to move better, and got back on serve at 4-4.
Murray is bidding to become the first British man since Fred Perry in 1936 to win a Grand Slam tournament. He has lost in three major finals.
