Brazilian director swims with 'Sharks'

Brazilian director Karim Ainouz ("O abismo prataedo") has come aboard Royal Road Entertainment's thriller "The Beauty of Sharks," with shooting set to begin next summer. "O abismo prataedo" ("The Silver Cliff") will be premiering in Directors' Fortnight. Filip Jan Rymsza and Liz Federowicz of Royal Road Entertainment are producing, with co-producers Raphael Benoliel and Thomas D. Adelman. Mary Aloe is executive producing. "The Beauty of Sharks" is set in the 1950s on the French Riviera and centers on a gigolo caught in a confidence trick. It's written by Rob Green and Rymsza, based on a story by Green. Ainouz's next project, "Praia do futuro," a Brazil and Germany co-production, is set to start in November. Ainouz and Rymsza are managed by Brent Travers of Ascend Entertainment. Rymsza is also repped by Greg Slewett of Bloom Hergott Diemer Rosenthal LaViolette Feldman Schenkman & Goodman. Green is repped by Toby Moorcroft of Sayle Screen.
